You act surprised

Okay...obviously I have not been good at keeping up with the Saturday Seven. A grand idea however let's be practical - my Saturdays are consumed with football. And, we have been extremely lucky & grateful to see some good football this season.

Speaking of football, once again Randy Moss is consuming way too much time on the airways here in the Triangle. This time, he was waived by the Minnesota Vikings due to ill behavior at a catered dinner. I will not repeat here what he was alleged to have said about the meal graciously furnished after practice on Friday by his employer. I will say that I have to chuckle, shake my head and turn the dial when sports talk radio in the afternoons is consumed by talk about Mr. Moss.

None of his antics are a surprise to anyone (including me) who grew up in the Kanawha Valley in the early 1990's. Who else could miss school, practice or a combo of the two all week and still play high school football Friday nights? When athletes are "taught" this attitude of entitlement beginning at an early age, why does the general public act surprised when they act out as adults? I could go off on an entire tangent about overpaid athletes, etc, etc, etc but I will contain myself.

October was a long month here in Raleighwood. Five full weekends in the month of October and we were busy each weekend. The month started out with 2 football games and a heartbreaking loss to the Hokies. The third weekend we went to West Virginia to visit my grandmother. The 4th weekend the boys helped me celebrate my 35th birthday: Mexican for dinner Friday night, a new zoom lens for my camera, pumpkin spice latte to wake me up on Saturday, and a lazy Sunday. The last week of October was long....................but Thursday night was here before we knew it and off to Carter-Finley Andy & I went.

Carter-Finley rocked last Thursday night - best atmosphere I've seen in a long, long time. And the Pack pulled out the WIN against Florida State. Which made for a sleepy, long, happy Friday. Boy Wonder had a great time dressing up in his calico cat costume for Halloween and seemed more interested in wearing the costume/having his face painted than collecting candy. Thank goodness, because we experienced some Halloween scrooges - not many people passed out candy in Gigi's neighborhood. Boy Wonder was happy though - he wore his costume 3 times over the weekend. I still need to upload the pictures to the computer, so I will post those at a later time.

So, that's it for now. Not sure how our Thanksgiving plans will flesh out. We will be downtown Raleighwood Saturday November 20 for the Christmas Parade. Hopefully Santa will be delivering a Wolfpack W-I-N over the Evil Empire.
