Yesterday, as I was driving to the tire shop to have my 2 new tires installed, I smelled someone burning a wood fire. You may ask "What's so noteworthy about that?".
Smelling that fire (and maybe because we were having a "cooler" day here in central NC), football and fall immediately came to mind. I could feel and see fall: crisp days with clear blue skies, red/yellow/oranges leaves falling from trees, and Friday night football games. It is amazing what memories a scent can bring to mind.
