Random Thoughts

Thought #1: I need to be more silly & fun. Why you ask? One because my husband tells me I need to; two, I work with 2-5 yr old children every day; and, three because Lydia's blog made me remember how much I loved making "tents" out of sheets & furniture!!!!!

Thought #2: Little kids love to push boundaries. Thought I knew this & maybe had a handle on it - WRONG!! My JumpBunch kids today were wild. Today was my first day of having them by myself and their first day without Coach Kristen. Add to that, some children were transitioning to new classrooms and some will be going off to Kindergarten soon. This all adds up to let's see how far we can get with Coach Meg today. But, I learned some lessons today & probably gave some of the teachers a very good chuckle!!

Thought #3: Going home isn't always going home. We were in West Virginia for 4 days this week. Andy was attending a Brookside conference in Morgantown, and I decided to go with him. On Monday I was very homesick for Raleigh. Very odd emotion for me because I love to travel. I realize that Morgantown isn't where I grew up, but I was still in WV. It didn't matter. North Carolina is my home now. I will always love West Virginia and visit friends/family who still live their but I am a "Carolina Girl" now - that being the State of North Carolina and not a reference to the "Evil Empire" 20-odd miles down the road. ;) Going to West Virginia also made me realize how many places in West Virginia I have NEVER visited: Cooper's Rock (went there on Monday evening), Dolly Sods, Pipestem, Blackwater Falls, Bluestone, Summersville & Tygart lakes, Harper's Ferry & Charles Town. It also made me realize that I need to make an effort to visit more parks & places in North Carolina.

Thought #4: I am truly blessed to have the wonderful friends that are in my life. Nothing happens randomly. I believe that God has placed each of you in my life for a specific reason and I love you all.

Thought #5: I am going to make tailgating this fall more fun and less work. I will not cook or grill on-site. Everything will already be prepared either at home or The Fresh Market or Whole Foods or Bo-Jangles. If anyone else goes to NC State football games & needs some tailgate buddies (because we need some)...leave me a message here on the blog.

Thought #6: Live life one day at a time. Live for today, not tomorrow.

Thought #7: Do not be afraid to grow and evolve. I never imagined working part-time & being a housewife - that I would enjoy the welcome break and enjoy my life. I also am filled with peace about pursuing my teaching certification. I can not recall another time in my life where I have felt so at peace with a decision.

Have a happy weekend!! By the way, Andy & I are the proud new Uncle & Aunt to Gabriel Adam Wood who was born on 08-08-2008.

Hey Meg! I understand what you mean about being a Carolina Girl. I think we always "absorb" a little of where we live and it will always be a part of us. The same way Blue Bell ice cream, the site of the Texas flag and a few other memories remind me of my Texas childhood or that crab cakes, the smell of Tuf-skin and the color maroon take me back to college. Even though I didn't live in NC long, I ache for things it's hard to explain. My ex-Asst. AD was a NC State grad and every once in awhile we'd talk Bojangles, Sonic and my favorite, the smell of the Magnolia tree that was outside my door in the condos when caught by the light summer breeze. The thought of the smell still brings tears to my eyes.
