Stacy asked me yesterday "Does reading the Bible make you think better?" as he was carrying his Bible out to the car to look at on the ride to do errands & then go to the pool. My immediate answer was "yes" and he did not seek further explanation. However, I have been left with the question of "why" for myself. Not only "why" but "how" does it make me think better - I am going to use this as a jumping off point for my quiet time and see where it leads me.
I mentioned that my friend Chris & her family are moving to the Dominican Republic (DR for short) as missionaries. I am so proud of Chris & Tim: they are following the gift that God has given them to GO out & serve others, to share the message of Jesus Christ and what an intimate relationship with the Lord looks like. Follow Chris & her family on this journey at www.chittendensthroughopendoors.blogspot.com - long title but oh what an adventure they have already been on & they have not even left the US! I feel truly blessed to be able to be part of this "adventure" that Chris & Tim are undertaking. I know they are an inspiration to both Andy & myself, and I hope through their actions my family is able to discern the way God wants us to serve others & further His kingdom.
I am also blessed to be able to read the blog my friend Hannah started to journal her family's "adventure" of her father's brain tumor. You may think "adventure" an odd choice of word to use injunction with brain tumor, but once you read how the Lord is using this experience to reach others & share the message of Jesus Christ I think you will realize that adventure is exactly the right word. I have only met Hannah's dad once, but through Hannah's stories of her father he is a truly remarkable man. This is a blog that makes you realize that this life is not about the here & now if you are a Christ follower; it changes your perspective on mortal death and challenges you to live for the right reasons in the present and that greater things are to come in Heaven - www.davidccarson.blogspot.com
Another blog I like to read these days, is our friend Kevin's. We love Kevin & Bonnie - I don't think we tell them this enough. They both are great role models to Andy & I; they challenge us to think outside the box; and, once again they are examples of "normal" people who are Christ followers (there is another blog post right there for the future). www.inthego.biz
