Where are the "adventures"?

I realize I have not been keeping up with the blog very well in the last year or so. I have decided to get off my lazy be-hind, and try to post here more often: this decision comes after what has been a long but quick 1st five months of 2010; I have not been keeping in touch with family & friends very well; and, one of my best friends is getting ready to move to the Dominican Republic for mission work (and she has set up a blog to keep everyone in the loop - thanks for re-inspiring me Chris).

The last 5 months have flown by, so hard to believe that June 1 is around the corner. I was going to write that our lives have not been very "adventurous", in terms of fun, wacky, cool adventures...and that would be true for the most part. The "adventure" we have been on, is one like the majority of America, economizing; worrying about how we are going to pay bills, buy groceries, put gas in the cars, etc, etc, etc.

Andy was laid-off from Fore-Par in February; he then went to work for Tru-Green selling lawn care door-to-door this lasted 4 very looooooonnnnnggg weeks (he worked 11am-9pm Monday-Friday and 9am-3pm Saturdays). Needless to say, that schedule was not conducive to family life plus the compensation was not all that great. Andy then decided to devote time to his golf course sales while picking up odd jobs to round out the days - this proved to be way too hectic and he had too many balls in the air at one time. (One of the odd jobs was scooping up doggie poo.) The last 4 weeks he has been a barista at Starbucks and searching for full-time employment. Thankfully he applied, interviewed and accepted a Landscape Foreman position with Bland Landscaping here in the Triangle. This position is Monday-Friday, the fescue is kept at 3" tall vs. 1/4" tall...and the best yet, no Saturdays and worrying about greens burning up & dying!!!!

So what has my life been like since February? In one word: HECTIC. For the last 3 months, I have been the main breadwinner; cook; housekeeper; laundress; and whatever else comes along at me. I am one tired lady, but have renewed some great friendships, made some new friends and have a great new small group.

I am ready for some "adventure" but different than the one I have been on for the last 5 months. Not that it has been a bad adventure: I have learned a lot about myself; grown spiritually; and, have learned to live a more simple life, being content with the things I do have and learning to use the resources I have available. Ready to see where this new chapter in our lives takes us; ready for family trips and exploring new places with Stacy; ready for a "date" night weekly with Andy; ready for a new football season; and, ready to fully walk the path God has already set in place for me.

You will hear a voice behind you saying, "This is the way. Follow it, whether it turns to the right or to the left." ~ Isaiah 30:21

Faith assures us of things we expect and convinces us of the existence of things we cannot see. ~ Hebrews 11:1
