2 Month Anniversary

Happy 2 month anniversary to the Wood family!!!!!! "S" has lived with us for 2 months...officially today. We picked him up at his aunt's on Saturday Dec. 27, 2008 and arrived home between 1/1:30pm. What a completely, life-changing event that day was. But one of the best life-changing events that has EVER happened to Andy & I.

Over the last 2 months, we have experienced many firsts and have begun to see the world in a whole new manner. Some of our experiences over the last 2 months have included:
  • Having the great privilege to be called Mommy & Daddy by "S" - so totally accepting of us as his parents.
  • Witnessing "S" and his first memorable snowfall, Tuesday Jan. 20, 2009. He was so delighted and the 3 of us had the best time playing as the snow fell at 8am. He is dying for it to snow again...miss WVa for that reason.
  • "S" began preschool here in Raleigh. He seems to enjoy it & talks about his little friends.
  • "S" had sedated dental work on Feb. 10, 2009. He did awesome! Only 1 tooth was extracted; the remaining cavities were capped. I love to hear him say "My teeth not hurt no more."
  • The look "S" has on his face when I pick him up from school each afternoon - it is priceless!!! It melts my heart and fills me with the greatest joy.
  • "S" telling me the other day that "I love both you" - referring to the fact that he loves Mommy & Daddy.
  • "S" telling me "Mommy, I not hug you last night." And, then give me the biggest hug ever.
  • "S" telling Andy "Daddy watch" before he kisses me.
  • Teaching "S" how to catch a football.
  • Listening to "S" sing along with the Fraggle Rock theme song, the Word Girl theme song, and the Martha Speaks theme song.
  • Watching "S" sit down right in front of the stereo when I turn on music. He truly enjoys music and will ask me to turn the radio on while we're driving in the car.
  • That when I asked "S" last Friday morning if he wanted to brush his own teeth, he immediately said "yes". He is brushing his own teeth 80% of the time - under our supervision. Andy & I give them the once over before all is said & done.
  • I love watching Andy play with "S". I love the joy on Andy's face and he lovingly interacts with "S". Andy is in his element - he is a great daddy.
  • The fact that I bought him his first Boston Red Sox gear!!!!!!! And to hear "S" say Boston Red Sox.
  • Listening to "S" says his prayers. I love how the list changes each evening but that he consistently prayers for our cats, my mom's cats, and his aunt & uncle.
  • "S" has lost a little more weight & now can comfortably wear pants with a snap and zipper.
  • Dressing "S"- who says there aren't any cute boys clothes?
  • Scheduling playdates.
  • Hearing "S" say yesterday when we were playing catch with the football "Mommy, I just like the Wolfpack!" - I will admit there is some irony that goes along with that exclamation...the ball slipped through his hands (yep, just like the Wolfpack).
I am so proud to be a mommy. I never thought I would feel like this...but I love it! I love that he wants to cuddle and read books; play outside; help me vacuum & then say "Mommy I a good helper"; his giggly, laugh that comes from the belly; that he says "There's Stacy house, and Mommy and Daddy and Stacy house." when we pull into the driveway; and, the undeniable, highly observable fact that he loves Andy & I.

"S" we love you more than words can say...you have stolen our hearts and completed our family. Love you, Sugar Booger!!!!!!!!

I should not have ready this at work. Now everyone is going to ask me why I'm crying.

It is so encouraging to read your blog and see your heart about this whole process! Its also neat that my children prayed for "S" to have a home when we too were referred for him and I can tell them that he indeed has found a wonderful home!
